Photograph by Sue Miller Orion Was Right

We are never proud
Having involved others in our doom
That they may be the yellow rose
Upon our brambled blues

But she has been that way
And weathered me
During storms and silence
In days when sunlight, at best
Is glimmer for dust

Having involved you,
I no longer need the word
but in melodrama

Having involved you,
Always
I see your name,
In the same three stars
In the same dark night
